School districts and open-enrollment charter schools may be eligible for adjustments to their Instructional Materials Allotment (IMA) for the 2016-2017 biennium to accommodate rapid growth in enrollment. To be eligible for an increase, the district or charter must have experienced one of the following:

  • A minimum enrollment growth of ten percent over the previous five-year period
  • A net increase of 3,500 students over the previous five-year period
  • Unexpected enrollment growth due to unforeseen circumstances
  • The recent approval of a charter school expansion amendment by the commissioner of education

Districts or open-enrollment charter schools that meet these criteria may submit an application to the commissioner of education to request additional IMA funding for the 2015‒2016 and 2016‒2017 school years. The deadline to apply for an adjustment for the biennium is December 1, 2015. Applications received after this deadline will be considered for only school year 2016-2017.
