Mom to three intelligent, gorgeous, hilarious (and grown) kids, but I am enjoying being an empty-nester with my high-school-sweetheart husband of 37 years. We always have fun together, and spend our time spoiling our sweet, yellow lab Charlie. We love hanging out with our fabulously smart, beautiful five grandkids!
I am a lifelong learner, constantly adding to my knowledge and skills. I am also a lifelong athlete and enjoy teaching my grands all the sports' things! I am blessed with a wonderful family and in so many other ways, including as a cancer survivor (Stage 3B Cholangiocarcinoma, aka bile duct cancer), for which I am a Whipple Surgery Warrior (12/21/2017), and survived radiation and chemo. I am currently NED (no evidence of disease). I am of the 18% that achieves five-year survival from this cancer!
I thrive on investigating issues and identifying ways to improve processes to reduce (or eliminate) inefficiencies, and providing information to both internal and external customers in a clear, concise and courteous manner. I am a factual, forward-thinking team player, working hard to exceed expectations while always maintaining an encouraging (and fun) attitude.
My favorite animal is the elephant. They may look awkward at a glance, but they are strong, loyal, protective, intelligent, quiet (unless provoked), clever, intuitive, enjoy having fun, are graceful team players, and can give themselves showers with their trunks and a bit of water. We have a lot in common, except the self-shower-ability. :o)
I started at WFISD on April 21, 2020 (pandemic style LOL), and I love it here. I have learned so much from my staff, colleagues and leaders (iron sharpens iron), and I'm eager to learn more. Though the job and duties can be challenging at times, I know iron is forged in fire, not ice.
P. S. My kids and I love movies! All our conversations include quotes from our family favorites: Forrest Gump, Dumb and Dumber, Remember the Titans, We're the Millers, The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, most all Disney movies, Adam Sandler movies, Jim Carrey movies, Steve Carrell movies, Melissa McCarthy movies and so many others.
And that's all I have to say about that. :)
