TASA School Facilities Commission

By Tracy Ginsburg, RTSBA, SFO, CAE posted 01-18-2019 16:42

TASA has created a special commission (TEA School Facilities Commission) to explore the scope and structure of the Texas Education Agency’s School Facilities Standards.  I hope that TASBO will have several volunteers on this committee.  Please see the announcement and the requirements for application below.  The deadline to apply is Friday, February 1st at midnight.

The TEA School Facilities Commission will lead the process and serve as the group to submit proposed standards to TEA. In an effort to solicit broad stakeholder feedback and participation, the Commission is conducting a nominations process for subcommittee members. Subcommittee assignments will be determined in February after the Commission has determined the best organization of these working groups and those interested have been identified.

The Commission is seeking involvement from all stakeholder groups and interested parties, including but not limited to: Instructional Design, Campus Leadership, Teachers, School Facilities Planning/Design, School Construction, School Facilities Operations/Maintenance, Fire Marshals, Municipal Building Officials, Law Enforcement and School Resource Officers, School Board Members, Parents, Workforce/Employers, Higher Education and Military/JROTC.

If you or someone in your organization is interested in serving on a subcommittee, please submit your nomination as directed below. Consistency among subcommittee working groups is critical to the success of this undertaking; therefore, it is necessary for interested stakeholders to commit to full engagement in all in person or remote meetings. (At this time, we do not anticipate in person meetings, but since the assignments won’t be determined until after the deadline to participate, nominees should be prepared to attend at least one in person meeting in Austin.)

If you are interested, please apply by submitting the following information to kranney@huckabee-inc.com with the subject line of TASA TEA SFC Subcommittee Nomination
