Dallas, TX – At its Annual Conference in March, the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) recognized David Garcia, Chief Financial Officer from Midland ISD, as one of three finalists for the TASBO Commitment to Excellence Award. Each year, TASBO selects an outstanding TASBO member, who demonstrates consistent leadership within the organization and their profession.
A graduate of Texas Tech University with a BBA in Accounting, David Garcia has dedicated the past 26 years to school district administration. Through his hard work and determination David continues to guide Midland ISD and its greatest assets, the children and community.
A member of TASBO since 1989, David has served several positions including Board President 2012 to 2013. He currently serves as Chair of the Governmental Relations Committee.
Past TASBO President and friend, Art Martin, says “David is not only one of the most competent school business people I know, but he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.”
Along with the Commitment to Excellence Award Recipient Frankie Jackson from Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, Garcia and Dallas ISD’s Mike Singleton were honored at TASBO’s Annual Conference Awards Luncheon on March 3, 2016 in Dallas. More than 1,000 people attended the luncheon, sponsored by AXA.
“In appreciation of our partnership with TASBO we are committing $5,000 to this year’s award recipients. We will donate $3,000 to the 1st place recipient’s home district and an additional $1,000 each to the remaining finalists,” said Matthew Foxhall, Regional Senior Vice President for AXA, who sponsors the award.
