Does your school district have one or more operational areas where things seem to be going well, but where there has been little to no employee and leadership turnover for many years? Long-standing stability in an operational area can be a definite strength; however, the quality of services may begin to lose a certain amount of luster where there has been little infusion of new ideas, practices and processes from outside. There is a fine line between long-standing satisfaction and growth of complacency with the status quo. With this being said, there are very few situations that cannot benefit from an operational audit, which can help ensure that opportunities for improvement are not overlooked, however much everyone seems to be satisfied with the current state of service levels. It’s good to act before complaints are received. By doing so, you can help minimize the likelihood that issues are avoided or minimized related to the quality of services, cost efficiency and/or performance issues.
