On Thursday, May 14, 2015, House Public Education Chair Jimmie Don Aycock pulled his school finance reform bill, HB 1759, from the House Calendar following the first point of order on the bill. Rep. Aycock’s action to pull the bill was in consideration in part to fairness to the many House bills that would die at the midnight deadline for second reading, if there was an all-day debate on a bill that would probably not be considered by the Senate. In apparent frustration, Rep. Aycock stated, “We have some serious problems facing us and the longer we wait, the more it’s going to cost to fix them.”
