A recent pilot project is reporting impressive results in connection with the percentage of students in pilot districts that file Free Applications for Federal Student Aid (FAFSAs), according to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). The FAFSA is the gateway for students’ access to federal and most state financial aid for college. The FAFSA project is now moving to full implementation. In order for high school counselors in school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to begin to have access to or to continue to access their students' FAFSA data, action must be taken by the February 27, 2015 deadline to file a signed and completed FAFSA Completion Initiative Participation Agreement for Texas Public Secondary Education Entities (“Agreement”) with the THECB.
