TEA has posted several pieces of correspondence in recent days that your district may want to be aware of.
- Implementing statutory changes to micro-purchase and simplified acquisition thresholds under EDGAR
Recent statutory changes have increased the thresholds for micro-purchases under procurement rules in EDGAR. TEA announced that it will implement these changes in the terms and conditions of all federal grant awards and that LEAs should update local policies to reflect the changes. Specifically, the micro-purchase threshold was increased from $3,500 to $10,000 (which is cumulative across the grant year). The simplified acquisition threshold increased from $150,000 to $250,000, although the requirement for competitive procurement for purchases over $50,000 in TEC 44.031 still applies.
